Thing # 17 Social Bookmarking

Did you know there are over 15 billion websites?  That number does not have to be overwhelming.  With social bookmarking, you can easily save and organize webpages.  Instead of bookmarking sites to your computer (the old-fashioned way), you can bookmark them through a website like Delicious.  Your favorite site can then be accessed from any computer, and also viewed by your friends or colleagues.

The sharing aspect of social bookmarking sites like Delicious is what makes them so neat.  People with like interests can access your sites, and vice versa.  In essence, you are collaboratively exploring and compiling resources from the net with your peers.  This would be an especially great tools for teachers, who can network with other teachers in their school or even like-minded teachers around the world.

Tags are another great advantage to Delicious.  By tagging your sites (by whatever reference helps you), you are organizing them for future use, when they become numerous.  This will make them easier for you to find.
